War Between Titans and Gods

  • Gaia was mad at Uranus for banishing most of her children

    • She turned to Cronus for help

  • Cronus castrated Uranus

    • Uranus's blood created many things like Aphrodite

    • Uranus was robbed of his powers because he was a fatherly figure who lost his manly part

  • Cronus took over the universe, took Rhea as his queen, and ruled for eons

    • For the most part, everything went really well under the rule of Cronos

    • Cronus believed with his father to keep Gaia’s other children away which further angered her

  • Cronus and Rhea had many children who were known as the Gods

    • Offspring: Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Demeter, and Zeus

    • Cronus was paranoid that his children would castrate him, so he swallowed his children just after birth

    • When Rhea was pregnant with her last child (Zeus), she didn’t want to see another child eaten so she gave a rock to Cronus to eat and gave the baby to Prometheus

  • After Zeus matured, he gave Cronus something to throw up and he threw up all of his children

    • Zeus waged a war with the other Gods, hundred-hands, cyclops, and giants against the Titans

    • One of the Titans went to the Gods (Prometheus) and said he would help the Gods win the war for protection

    • The Gods won the war because of the help from Prometheus but Cronus escaped and still exists today

  • The world now belonged to the Gods

    • Zeus punished the Titans like Atlas who was forced to hold the world

    • Prometheus and Epimetheus were given pardon and lived with the Gods on Mount Olympus

  • Zeus saw that most the children of Gaea were trouble and imprisoned them again

    • Gaea was enraged for the third time and wanted to destroy Zeus

    • Gaea creates Typhan, an immortal dragon, to kill Zeus but Zeus trapped it beneath the earth

      • Sicily sits on top of the dragon

      • This is why the island is so volcanically active

  • The containment of the dragon starts civilization
