Admetus was a good and wealthy man in Greece

When Apollo was cursed by Zeus and force to live as a human slave for a year, he picked Admetus as his owner

• Admetus treated him very well during the year

Apollo revealed to Admetus after a year that he was a God and wanted to reward him for his kindness

• Admetus asks Apollo to find out the day of his death

Apollo goes to the Fates to find out how long Admetus had to live

• A young girl forms the thread (birth)

• A middle age woman weaves the thread (life)

• An old woman cuts the thread (death)

The Fates say he is due to die tomorrow

Apollo returns and tells Admetus that he will die tomorrow unless he could find someone to give him more life

• His parents would not give him their life

• His freinds would not give him their life

• No one seemed to want to give him their life and die for him

When he returned home from asking people to die for him, he found that his wife had decided to give up her life for him because she loved him so much

• Admetus was very upset and prepares for the funeral when Hercules stops by to stay the night

• He regrets her decision because he wanted to live with her and not because she donated her life to allow him to live longer

Hercules arives at the house of Admetus to visit his old freind

• He asks if everything was fine because everyone was in black and something appeared to be wrong

• Nobody tells him about Admetus's wife or any of the other events

Hercules stays at Admetus’s home and gets really drunk while Admetus is at his wife’s funeral

• He starts to act very rude and says many offensive things until finally someone said that Admetus’s wife had died

• Hercules felt terrible, went into one of his emotional tantrums, and left Admetus's house

When Admetus returned from the funeral, he learned that Hercules had fled

• ​He was worried about Hercules and the condition he was in

A few hours later Hercules returns to Admetus's house

• He brings Admetus’s wife with him and says he beat up death to get her back alive

• He felt terrible for saying the offensive things while he was drunk and got her back in return
